Every ten minutes we take the latest MRMS radar sweep — precipitation rate and type on a 1-km national grid — and intersect it with the modeled temperature of the pavement itself, mile by mile across the Interstate system. Precipitation falling on a road surface at or below 33°F is an icing segment, tiered watch → likely → ice. No icing is a result too: the stamp below is proof the sweep ran.
